Getting Started

Service Areas

Northcote, Thornbury, Fairfield, Alphington, Ivanhoe, Fitzroy, Fitzroy North, Carlton, Carlton North, Kew & Clifton Hill.

Locations

Our walking locations are away from main roads, in designated off lead dog spaces, and our vehicles are parked in close proximity to where we walk.

Enquiry Form

Our enquiry form gathers crucial information about your dog. We will use this information to assess their suitability for off lead group walks before scheduling a time to meet them for a solo walk.

Solo Walk

We conduct an initial solo walk to assess your dog’s suitability for group off lead adventures. We will look at their recall, social and behavioural abilities, which should be in alignment with the information provided on your enquiry form. Despite our best efforts to evaluate your dog’s suitability for group walks, their behaviour may change due to a number of factors. If anti social behaviours are displayed we may need to discuss alternative walking options for your dog.

Keeping clean

The dogs are encouraged to be wild and free whilst on a group walk. This often means rolling in muddy puddles, swimming in rivers and digging holes. Majority of the time your dog will come home dirtier than when they left. We encourage you to leave a towel outside so one of our team members can give your dog a wipe down before allowing them inside.

Technology

We support the use of tracking devices (such as Air Tags) so our team is able to track your dog should they retreat from the pack. Please advise our team if your dog is wearing one on the walk and we’ll pair the device to our phone.

Pet First Aid & CPR

Our team is due to complete their Pet First Aid & CPR certificate end of November. We carry a Pet First Aid kit in our backpacks on every walk.

Bookings

Hutt & Hound no longer accept casual/ad-hoc bookings. We require a minimum of one weekly walk on an on-going basis. This not only ensures that your dog has a regular spot with us and also enables them to form a stronger bond with their doggie companions.

What you’ll need

We require our dogs to wear a harness as this enables us to strap your dog into the back cabin of the mini van safely. It’s also a safety measure for the walk. Majority of our clients aren’t home for pick up & drop off, we ask that you arrange a lockbox with a key. We provide the lead, poo bags, treats and fun!

Payments

Walks can be purchased from our website in packs of 5 & 10. If your dog is booked in for 2 or more walks a week, we recommend purchasing a 10 pack as it saves having to ‘top up’ as frequently.  We’ll text you when you’ve used the walks in your pack. Please ensure you have purchased another pack prior to your next scheduled walk.

Transport

The dogs are transported to and from home in the comfort of our small van.

Follow the pack

Our team will send you a text post walk with a brief rundown of the adventure with some pictures attached. We also update our stories @huttandhound with highlights from the walks that day.
